Never mind the videocard, Thierry. It'll do.
Although Blank says to update your videocard drivers... there is nothing to update. The Catalysts 5.7 are far overdue.

The use & benefit:
CC4.19 wouldn't report the unit automatically. You'd have to go to the Work tab, rightclick on the unit and Update Manually to report it. Or wait for the once per 24 hour automatic scheduler to come by. If something happened in the mean time, you'd lose the unit.

CC4.45 does it on its own. As I stated above, it's to report the unit, no work is requested at the first scheduler. The LTD (Long Term Debt) is then recalculated and only if it's zero or above will new work be requested. Else you'd see "Requesting 0 seconds of work, returning 0 results." .. Those are just status messages.

Since the scheduler doesn't take up any discernable cycles from the CPU, it doesn't take up any resources. What you are seeing is the new scheduler at work in the correct way:

First a finished unit is uploaded;
Then the scheduler automatically reports this work unit; it won't request work at the same time.

It then has recalculated the debt for all the projects it is attached to;
If the long term debt is too low (negative), it won't ask for new work.
If the long term debt is equal to zero, it will ask for new work.

Which is what it is doing in Thierry's example.

As SunRedRX7 said, the warning is there so you cannot complain about things when they go sour. At this moment only Seti Beta's site is optimized for use of the 5.00 client of the Boinc you use. So if you want to test Seti Enhanced (Seti Beta) only, you can do so.

Just don't expect any other project to be updated until they do so.
Read this thread for more information.

Can you please send that part of your stderrdae.txt and stdoutdae.txt to me through email? (zip or rar them up please). I can then either add it to the Wiki myself, or forward it to the other Paul. :)

Yes, it's a standard setting in the Boinc server version. If I am not mistaken, it can be read correctly by the newer CVS versions, but when a project doesn't upgrade to one of them, it'll continue showing this standard setting. Then again, not all projects use L2 cache that much as others do. Seti uses it more than Einstein, for instance. Not sure if LHC does.

Check this entry in the Boinc Wiki. It'll explain part of it.

If you're running into this a lot, your best action is to reset the project. That way you get all the correct files for the project downloaded again which minimizes the chance of repeating this.

> Maybe the cpu-recognition inside of BOINC has changed meanwhile?

The description of the CPUs inside BOINC (the DC client) and the BOINC version of the servers (server software) changed. Boinc reads the details of your CPU and sends them on to the project's servers when it first benchmarks and then connects.

So if you detached at the time it was a normal Intel and reattached later on it became the GenuineIntel. Nothing has changed inside your CPU. If you would look in the code in the BIOS of your motherboard, you'd see the same description.

Yet as I noticed elsewhere, a detach wasn't even necessary. My client Boinc ran benchmarks at the time and the next day I noticed I had a new computer entry on that project, with a new name. Even a newer version of Boinc can do this. (4.19 to 4.38 added a new computer for me at CPDN)

As for adding/replacing hardware and having a new entry added, that's possible if your amount of RAM changes or you add a different CPU. Just like Windows XP will go haywire when you change something simple as a motherboard.

I take it the computer you're talking about is the Celeron 1400?
The description of all computers has changed a while ago. So where it would be an Intel(R) Celeron(TM) CPU 1400MHz Pentium it is now a GenuineIntel Intel(R) Celeron(TM) CPU 1400MHz.

Since both descriptions aren't the same, even though he computer is still the same, you cannot merge them. Don't sweat it though, in the end your credits and RAC are still the same.

I've got two units in my download list on the server that aren't on my system. This one and this one. I've done a search for them, but nope, they aren't around.

I did close down my computer this morning because we had a very heavy freak thunderstorm around. But closing down either a computer or BOINC (CC4.35) shouldn't delete work units off a computer, should it now?

Hence the question, where did they go to? Could it be a bug for CC4.35?

I managed to crunch for points, the other two didn't. All are said to be valid, but for that the other two didn't take much time to crunch the unit, thus claimed a valid 0.00 crits.

I noticed that the unit has been sent out to another 2 people. I just hope for them that they don't get 0.00 crits appointed as well. :(
