Then again, the background on the stats pages may get a more conform colour to the rest of the forums, not the main dark grey background that's all over the place now.

This is a color green I can't even see on my monitor. Does it have to be green? Can't it be another bright color that is well visible on the dark grey background?
Or make the background grey the same color as this answer window, then use the same color green as the + rating box has. ;)

I am set at a 10 day cache with BOINC 4.45 and get roughly 3 days of work(slightly improved since some adjustment on your part of run times.)I am pretty sure that a reduction in deadline would do ME no harm, however others have other circumstances and AGAIN it is currently RIDICULOUS that I set at 10 days and get 3. Please further solve this situation BEFORE you change things.(deadlines)

This is not a thing LHC has to fix. It's due to the way Boinc benchmarks your CPU.
If you use Boinc version 4.72 (alpha version, may be unstable in your use), it has an updated benchmark and is learning how long work units run. It's by long not perfect yet, but it guesses the estimated run time a lot better than CC4.45 does.

But if you would like to test it, you can download it here. Do know that you will need to crunch a couple of units before the estimates go down. It won't do it from the first one.

By backup you mean, you made a zip file of the whole directory? Or just a copy to another directory?

I think where you went wrong was by deleting the Boinc directory's contents. You deleted the client_state.xml file as well. So when you reinstalled Boinc, you had to re-attach to this project?

Why the deleting of anything, by the way? usually uninstalling and reinstalling is enough. If you want to clear your registry, rebooting inbetween uninstalling and reinstalling will do the trick.

What you can try is a rollback to the previous version of your Boinc folder, or put the backup back and uninstall Boinc, reboot, reinstall new one, then see what it does. But if you didn't backup the whole of the Boinc folder, it won't work either.

Btw, all units you have gotten now with the new install of Boinc will be lost if you follow the above advice.

Can you open up ports in the router?
If you can, try opening up TCP port 1043 and/or TCP 31416 towards either of the PCs.

Have you checked for changes in the XP software firewalls?

Your router shows that your computer doesn't try to the internet, or does it show that only Boinc doesn't want to communicate? Can you connect to the internet from any of those two computers, when you either open up a browser or try to ping somewhere through the command line interface?

Does LHC have a download quota? I can't find it anywhere.

How did you install Boinc? If as a service, do know that neither the screensaver, nor the Show Graphics option work in this configuration.

If you installed it as a single or multi-user configuration, does it show graphics when you go to the Work tab, make sure an LHC unit is running and choose "Show Graphics" on the left?

If it doesn't, then what make and model is your videocard?

In other cases I would say you had a Long Term Debt with LHC, but since you only just made the account and attached to it, it's doubtful.

Try a project reset (Projects tab, click once on LHC, press Reset on the left, click Yes) to see if that kicks it a bit.

Also check your preferences on this project. Are they any different than the others you are connected to?

I think you are adding a 32bit CPU to a 32bit CPU, thinking it'll do double precision. It doesn't. 2 times 32bit isn't equal to 64bit.
2 to the power of 32 = 4294967296 .. 2 times that is 8589934592
2 to the power of 64 = 18446744073709551616 ..

Where does 2 come from? It's your bit.

What does a 64bit CPU do extra that a 32bit CPU doesn't? Address more memory.
A 32bit CPU can address at most 4GB of memory, whereas a 64bit CPU can address up to 16 exabytes. If you haven't got a clue how much that is, look at the number above again.

Now, since most PCs, bar servers, out there don't have motherboards yet that can pack more than 4GB of memory, or their Windows don't allow them to have a pagefile larger than 4GB, it's useless to call your 64bit CPU truelly a 64bit CPU, since it's hampered by the OS, the motherboard and the amount of memory.

Nice try. :)
