I'm an ESL teacher in South Korea.

Part of what I do is teach science, but my students are quite young (preschool and elementary school).

I'd be happy to give feed back about curriculum ideas and the such. I was a science major in college and I'm trained as a developmental psychologist with an interest in cognitive development.

My work email is kathryn dot littlecampus at gmail dot com.

They look OK to me.

Run times here vary dramatically. If you get these extremely short ones, it usually means the simulated beam ran into the wall and destroyed the LHC.

Then, why do not you make a bug report?

There's no use in putting a ticket into Trac. It'll get closed as won't fix. The 5.10.x and newer (when it comes out) won't run on NT4 because of the version of Visual Studio Rom is using.

We are dropping support for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 in the 5.10 release and future releases.

Basically Microsoft dropped support for both OS’s when they developed Visual Studio 2005 and so the C Runtime Library no longer works on both Win95 and WinNT40. We need the C Runtime Library to handle things like file and memory management.

For anybody using Win95 or WinNT40 you should be able to continue using 5.8.

1. Where is BOINC installed? Vista doesn't like it in the Program files directory. I've got it installed to c:\\boinc and it works fine.

2. Are you manually shutting down BOINC before shutting down the computer? The super speedy shut down Vista does doesn't really give BOINC enough time to do its housekeeping. Registry Hack/Workaround here.

Currently, yes.

I can't activate my screen saver, the select button remains grayed out when a workunit is running.. is there something I'm missing? I'd love to see it!

How is BOINC installed? As a service you won't be able to see graphics.

The work-around is here.

Thanks for the link!

Unfortunately, I'm running a standard XP program install rather than a service so this particular fix isn't it (if anything, as per the workaround, boinc isn't listed in services.msc).. and I take it that there are no additional downloads or anything else simple to do. Hmm. This is an excellent wiki, though, I'll spend a night or two deep within and see what I find.

I'm not in Windows right now, but make sure that there is boinc.scr. It should be in C:\\Windows (at least searching my Windows partition from Linux shows it there). I'm not sure why the show graphics button would be grayed out in the manager. Is that the case for other projects with graphics (Einstein or Rosetta, for example).

You can always try upgrading to the latest stable (5.10.13) or doing a repair install of your current version.

Sorry I can't be of more help. I basically stink at troubleshooting graphics and network issues.

I don't suppose anyone has ideas about the need to login everytime? I still have to enter my email and password eaach time I power up my PC but this is the only Project I have to do that for - I didn't need to do it before the redesign.
...

There is a problem with the cookies, LHC doesn't set any auth cookies anymore - it is _not_ a browser bug.

Those who still have a valid cookie from the old web site cannot logout, those who do not have an auth cookie cannot make their login persistent.

For Netscape//Mozilla/Firefox/Seemonkey ... the cookie can be created by editing / adding it to cookies.txt

I don't think that there's such an easy way to add it to IE in the same way.

Changeset #13066 might fix the cookie problem.

I got two on my dual core and one on my single core. My CI is very small as I run multiple projects.

I'm going to go play with the graphics for a while :)

FYI... Google does. It took me forever to convince Google that I wanted Google.com, not Google.co.kr. It took me even longer to figure out how to get the entire Blogger site (run by Google) into English.

There are a few others that I've come across. Darn annoying, BTW. Just honor my browser settings...

FWIW, I'm an ESL teacher living in S. Korea.

I should have thought of doing the forced refresh.

Jump to first unread post is broken. I just checked my prefs and it's set to that.

I swear I had an avatar before. But with so many projects, it's hard to remember what I have where. Regardless, uploading one doesn't work

Fatal error: Call to undefined function gd_info() in /srv/httpd/lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/html/inc/image.inc on line 7

All the titles for the title bar read LHC@Home. They usually have the name of the forum thread or the page you're on.

Ugh... my knowledge of CSS is rudimentary at best so I may have the wrong terms. But I think something is overflowing its container on the front page (and the "Your account" page). I see the navigation part then all the other information is below it.

It may be my funky wide screen laptop though.

This is on FF 2.0.0.4 running on Vista.

Screen cap...
