I got a few v530.03 WU when I attached to LHC 1.0. Now I get the messages
06/09/2011 10:51:57 PM | LHC@home 1.0 | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
06/09/2011 10:51:57 PM | LHC@home 1.0 | Requesting new tasks for CPU
06/09/2011 10:52:02 PM | LHC@home 1.0 | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
06/09/2011 10:52:02 PM | LHC@home 1.0 | (Project has no jobs available)

but then for some reason my account shows
Maximum daily WU quota per CPU 0/day

I didn't think it was possible to go below a quota of 1. It must be a bug in the system.

Hmmmm
Federico?

Found one of your old post at Seti with the same signature. I did read on one of the forums that some of the signatures at Boinc Stats got messed up a while back. You may want to go there and get your new URL.

I was running the test task (a bit more than 17 hours runtime), I was waiting to finish, last 5 minutes.. I clicked to the graphic window button during this waiting. And the task stopped with calculation error. I hope, the 98% task and the 17 hours runtime wasn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t for nothing.

I had the same thing happen to me as well. I don\\\\\\\'t recall how much of my WU had been completed, but on a whim I tried to pull up the graphic and instantly the computation stopped with the same error message you got. I was quite irked mainly because it was only the second of two WU\\\\\\\'s I had received once I installed the new version of BOINC.

Does anyone know if this is a bug in the BOINC platform? I\\\\\\\'m afraid to try to pull up the graphic on my SETI@HOME project. After spending hundreds of hours on an ASTROPULSE WU, I\\\\\\\'d really be peeved if I lost it to a \\\\\\\"calculation error\\\\\\\"...

The Problem is not Boinc, It the project\'s WU.
See other thread on the subjet Do not show graphics...

Here are the rules followed by Boinc for reporting completed work as posted at Seti by JM7 who did much of the scheduler tweeking on V5.
BOINC returns work to a project at the first of:

1) 24 hours before deadline.
2) Connect Every X before deadline.
3) 24 hours after completion.
4) 60 seconds after the completion of upload if upload completes after any of 1 to 3.
5) On a work request to that project.
6) With any other reported work for that project.
7) On a trickle up to the project (CPDN only as far as I know).
8) On a trickle down request (no projects use this as far as I know).
9) On a server specified schedule (some project uses this, but not certain which).
10) On a BOINC Account Manager specified connection (only if using a BOINC Account Manager).
11) When the user pushes the update button.

My second wu is behaving strangely as well, After reaching 100% completion: the elapsed time continued to run, the time to completion was blank, the status still showed as running but no CPU time was shown being used in the properties tab. I have suspended the wu for now. Should I abort it or is this normal behavior?( This extra running only lasted for about 2mins. before I suspended )

I would let it run. I have several project that stay at 100% for some time before completing. I haven\\\\\\\'t had an LHC for a while, so I\\\\\\\'m not sure if it does it too. I do have a project that regularly gets switched out to \\\\\\\'waiting to run\\\\\\\' while sitting at 100% only to complete when it get a turn at the CPU again. It\\\'s not uncommon for cleanup work to need to be done when the main crunching has finished.

Let it run for almost 2hrs. ---still no change or completion. Will consider this an anomaly and hope for another wu soon!!

I would try exiting Boinc completely and restarting it before giving up on a WU. Or maybe a system reboot will sometimes will get a stuck WU going again. An abort is only a last resort.

It still isn\\\'t april yet :P

I didn\\\'t have the heart to tell him. :)

Someone should let him know that he is still using a different calendar than the rest of us.

Edit: Or maybe he's time traveling and can't keeps forgeting to reset his watch.

Well, 6.10.39 is now out, including the latest scheduler fix. You can find it here. Remember that this is an experimental build - though I don\\\\\\\'t anticipate any problems.

BOINC still shows 6.10.18 as the recommended (stable?) version.

There was nothing really major wrong with .39 other than they missed a couple of bug fixes that should of made it into the release. Basically, an accounting error was made compiling it. They are now testing .43

The problem of a project going into high priority when new work from a different project is received is often caused by low Resource Share for the project in HP. CPDN is especially sensitive when it has low RS because of its long running WU.

I got a work unit! LOL

I am totally flabbergasted... bet it doesnt give any credit!

;O)

Yours is the 8th copy sent out. 5 errored out. One, no reply. And one success claiming 582.15.

Good luck.
12) Message boards : Number crunching : Why are you picking UOTD that have no credit ??? (Message 20953)
Posted 11 Jan 2009 by Aurora Borealis
Post:
The last 2 days have seen 2 UOTD that have 0 -- ZERO -- NIL -- NADA credit. I think you should have work completed to be UOTD imho.

IFAK UOTD pick is totally random. I don't know if the server routine even has an option to check RAC/Credits.

P.S. I wish they would update the message board software and use a different template layout. I can't even see what I'm typing and the additional backslash are annoying.

I just noticed that one of my computers picked up 5 wu's today! All crunched without issue ... is there some testing going on? If so, great news ... and I'm (we are) ready for more work!

Lucky you. I noticed there was work earlier while doing updates on a system I run offline. Unfortunately, my cache was already filled with other work and wasn't able to grab any. By the time I increased my cache size it was all gone. Bummer.

A simple update once in a while would suffice. Can I get work units or can't I? Are some people getting units and I can't, what is going on.....

The project is still in transition. There is currently no work being sent out. Patience has always been key here. I don't expect work for some time yet and even when we start getting some again, it likely to come in short bursts with long pause in between.

Just thought I'd mention that the timeout has been reduced to 24 hrs instead of a week. I'm not sure which version this was done. It's definitely in the current Boinc Alpha test release.

The alpha is as the names implies an alpha project. I used it to test updates and newer versions of sixtrack, before moving them to the main server.
...
I guess it is also the first place they will try out the garfield application once it is done. It has run on the cern internal boinc system and that worked. I think. I can tell you more once i see the meeting minutes.

Please, can you send me e-mail, when they accept more alpha testers? I just want to join that project. My e-mail address is XXXXXXXX

It isn't wise to post your email address on a public site. I hope you have a good spam filter.

It also is not wise to reply to such a post and not edit out the email address
17) Message boards : Number crunching : How to tune Boinc for LHC? (Message 13823)
Posted 2 Jun 2006 by Aurora Borealis
Post:
sslickerson share suggestion (500000:1:1) is a good one. Einstein has a 2 week due date and Seti now has even longer due dates on most WU. LHC should easily get crunching priority and Boinc will only bring your low share projects into the mix when necessary to meet their deadlines. A cache of .2 days would ensure that you have a couple of LHC WU on hand while they are available. The large resource share and the long term debt will see to it that you will not get new work from the other projects while LHC still has work available.
As long as you don't try to micromanage, Boinc will put all the emphasis on doing LHC.

Happy crunching.
18) Message boards : Number crunching : Will there be new work (Message 13524)
Posted 7 May 2006 by Aurora Borealis
Post:
If yes, then when?

(edit: typos)

LHC releases WU in burst. They analyze the results and then create a new batch to be sent out. There is no fix schedule for this. It can be anywhere from a week to a month between new batches.

If I understand correctly, what you're doing is increasing the 'Connect to network about every' x days in your general preference. This tells the scheduler how many days of work to keep in your cache.
Unless you change the ratio of shares between your projects, what you will get is an even number of WU-hour from each project to fill your cash. That is to say, with every thing else being equal and a 50-50 share, if you ask for two more days of work and have two projects you will receive one days worth of WU from each projects.
If your intention is to load more WU in a specific project, you have to skew the shares in favor of that project as well as increasing your connect time.
