What project manager are you using?

You\'re not missing a whole lot; no work right now, and it usually comes in short bursts every now and then.

Overclocked and malfunctioning processors are why the quorum and validation are in place on BOINC projects. IIRC, there is also a policy that limits the amount of work that goes to hosts that frequently return errored WUs, although settings like that may vary from project to project.

There hasn\'t been work from here in a while anyway, so perhaps your porting efforts would be better vested in another project? You should also take a look around, as there are some who specialize in BOINC porting, so you aren\'t wasting your effort--assuming you\'re planning on sharing your ported software.

Wow, way to threadjack.

Besides, has there been any input on that matter from someone who can actually make a difference, or just squabbling between users? Seems like a lot of time and energy has been spent on the discussion, but little has actually come of it. I think the line between trying to make the project run better and just arguing to make your point was crossed long ago. Can we take a time-out on that for a while?

And, in response to the topic at hand, there\'s really no way for us to tell when new work is on the way. It just comes when it does, so don\'t make this your only BOINC project.

If it was aborted by the project, it hadn\'t started running yet. So, there is no credit to lose.

Are you implying that the original poster might be less enthused about work than others?

The potential energy output would be far less than the energy consumed.

Will LHC@Home ever actually crunch data gathered from the LHC (I\'ve heard it will be collecting hundreds of terrabytes of data that needs to be analyzed), or is it just for design considerations?

I apologize if this sort of information is contained in an FAQ.

I seem to have curbed the flow of new hosts, but I noticed that LHC isn't accepting the new processor titles as the same like other projects... While this only causes two (nearly identical) duplicates and not hundreds, it's enough to hit the OCD spot in the back of my head.

Any clues as to which thread this information is in? The forum search doesn't seem to be working properly.

I seem to have a couple of hundred hosts on my account, when in actuality I'm running it on 4 computers. I have the BOINC 5.4.11 client on my Windows computers, and 5.4.9 on my Mac. I am managing my various projects using BOINCstats BAM!, but have only experienced this problem with this project. I'm sure that this isn't helping out the database, either. Any ideas as to what's wrong?
