Got it too:
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/workunit.php?wuid=91831921
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/workunit.php?wuid=91967947

The irony is that I was coming here to check if a task I was running (also a B1topenergy something) got errors from other users, because it was staying a long time on 100% and I was expecting it to fail, but by the time I found that task in my list, it completed properly.
So I guess it may not be all tasks of a specific series that error out, and the good news for us users is that everybody error the same way when there's error, so it's not coming from our side.

Hi,

For a while, due to my computer getting in higher temperatures than usual, I stopped using BOINC.
Then today, after fixing that, I decided to come back, but when trying to connect to LHC@home, I got
the error in the message log "peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known ca certificates"
I'm under windows XP and using an old version of boinc, and that may have made my situation worst,
but maybe the fix I used could work independently from os and boinc version, which is why I'm sharing it.

I first backed up my old "ca-bundle.crt" file in the BOINC folder (though I doubt I will either use this backup)
then got a new one from https://github.com/BOINC/boinc/blob/master/curl/ca-bundle.crt (I don't know how
"officiel" it is, but I don't think it could cause harm).
Then restarted boinc, but I got a new message telling me to reattach to the project with https (the true message
actually give the exact url).
After detaching and reattaching, it seems to work again (can't be sure until I get work, but there's no more errors).

I hope that my experience can be useful to others (though I wish people would just not run into any problem instead :p)

Large Hadron Collider on paws after creature chews through wiring

LHC to be out of action for a week while connections to transformer are replaced following visit from hungry fouine.

The world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator has been brought to its knees by a beech marten, a member of the weasel family, that chewed through wiring connected to a 66,000-volt transformer.

SETI got birds, LHC got fouines, just what are those scientists putting in their transformer to lure the surrounding fauna like that lol?

Wow, almost forgot those bugs, but they are still here, now 3 years old.
On others forums, I bump christmas or new year topics, but here, that's my yearly little excentricity xD (though I was late this year (should be 7/8 of march).

I'm just preventing this to be forgotten, no need to answer.

Saw some failures too. Since I found it weird that there were several in a row, and worried that it could come from me, I looked on recent WU and found those:

http://lhcathomeclassic.cern.ch/sixtrack/workunit.php?wuid=41274157

Seeing that make me think that the problem probably isn't on my side after all.

Hi,

Once in a while, I get a a work that temporarily is labeled "inconclusive", but an actual error had not happened for quite a while, which is why I thought of making a topic.
Since 3 others get error and 1 is Cancelled by server and 8 others get error and 1 is Cancelled by server, can I assume those workunits were designed to error out?

I used to receive pni and sse3 (the proof is in those buggy works I celebrate the birthdays of), but indeed, recently there are only sse2.
Maybe it's to better hunt bugs?

edit: I just realized you had asked it back in a dedicated topic.Sorry for posting here.

Happy Birthday bugs!

1 year old already*.We are so proud of you. Most BOINC items in a similar list wouldn't live that long...could it be you are the only ones.Great for you!
Anybody got a cake?
Since I will be busier tomorrow, I will do it today though it work only for one.

Happy Birthday

The immortals unremovable tasks are now 2 years old.Yet I can only wish they're not growing :p

Anybody else still have old things around?

Happy new year for the LHC, people working at it and with it, and everybody related to LHC@Home and not included in the previous groups ;)
I hope it will continue many years
Theorically, you could wish that it end (happily) as soon as possible because the research would have found everything there was to find.
Of course the scale for it to happen is probably very far beyond a human lifetime, but we do wish good health and happiness for an entire year regardless of circumstances, so the logic may work :p

Hope you had a good christmas.
The WU I got on the 24 finished within the day, and then I didn't get new ones until the 26, so couldn't make any result as christmas present for the project :p

Tonight in France, right now it fact, there's a movie called Atomic Apocalypse.
It's about a large particle collider creating a black hole and threatening the world.
...
Strange, I feel like I heard something like that before XD

Well after the series of "2012 Armageddon" based movies, nothing is surprising, everything will be used up to the core.

edit: wow, first part before ads cut ended, and it seems it's a serious case of people going berserk on misnaming and misdescribing something (though there's a collider involved, but that's the only thing they understood...maybe)

It's funny how this error message is "high class".Instead of "transient", it could just have been "temporary" (according to the dictionary I just checked).
Well besides that, I'm glad I get tasks again, though the Tasks tab is quickly filling up ^^

I think the message is just a log from the server explaining his error, so having the file on your side (client side) wouldn't help in this case.
Also having this message and not receiving work.

There was 1 sixtracktest under work in Server Status.
...
Yeah I'm bored. My computer is kept entertained with seti, but regarding lhc@home, right now the only work I can do is posting here.
Well I might have done it even with work, but I would have more trouble to decide the content of the post.
...
Viva Uselessness ^^

edit: I just though of it, I wonder how much what happen in a particle accelerator look like what happen in a pinball, and if there are pinballs tables (thinking of console/pc games more than real material things) shaped/themed after particle accelerators and things related.
Mure useless thinking and writing..D..O..N..E..!

Recently I noticed it seemed to be always the same person doing the other task of the job I'm on: Agile Boincers
I guess having 218 machines does help to invade others statistics ^^

No prizes.

Leave tasks in memory while suspended: I think it's only useful for buggy projects that crash if you pause them.

For the rest, it depend more on what you do on your pc besides BOINC.
With Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83GHz & Windows XP SP3, I use at most 75% of processors (3/4) and at most 50% of cpu time, and I still put a good fight against other people regarding working time and cpu time (though I don't follow hardware evolution, so I don't know if they indeed have more recent hardware)

"No tasks sent" here too.
Windows XP SP3 if that's useful.
