SOME greedy users
(Message 16054)
Posted 5 Jan 2007 by DerekL Post: All the complaining is like buying a Jeep and then demanding it must go 150mph. It just doesn't work, because it isn't designed to do that. Falcon you totally miss the point. The complaint is NOT the lack of an endless stream of work. The complaint is not being unable to aquire work because a number of users have deep caches - which locks work away for days that others could be doing. |

The Death Of LISA
(Message 12758)
Posted 16 Feb 2006 by DerekL Post: Meanwhile the ISS remains a gray area. Can you recall any great headline-making discoveries borne from the station? No, nor should you expect any in the near term. The ISS *is still under construction*. Just like the LHC were are all here crunching away on - it will be years before any significant real science is conducted. |

Up and Running Again
(Message 12617)
Posted 2 Feb 2006 by DerekL Post: Its rare, I forget what the threshold is, but it is something like 100 work units. What is happening is the re-issues are trickling out ... I am forcing my systems to finsih thier queues so that all mine are returned as soon as possible. I emptied mine out a couple of hours back. I had about eight that all had been validated, so my crunching them would accomplish little, so I aborted them to get the cycles back on E@. |
