There was a news items on our daily paper site called \\\"Algemeen Dagblad\\\" which says that the LHC stopped again because some bird dropped some bread into the LHC?? This causes make the LHC overheating.

This a joke? Dont see anything yet on CERN frontpage.

I hope not.

Any engineer or someone who works at Cern can confirm this?

The news is indeed correct,

Maybe time to calm down. A lot of us are with this project for already a long time and we knew that here at LHC@Home there would not be always work to do. If LHC is without WU’s, there are more then enough other projects that can be joined.
Don’t let us go into argue with each other, it isn’t worth.

Best regards from Belgium,

I joined this project back in 2004 when the password option was not available. I last connected in 2005. I had an old email address on that account. That email address is no longer available so I can't have my account key mailed to it. I created this account with the same username as the old one. I tried to join my team and it said that I am already a member. I really don't want to start over with the credits and don't want to use a different username. Is there any way the admin can reset my older account with this new email address so I can start crunching again? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

If you still have Boinc on one of your hosts, then the account key for LHC can be found in the account_lhcathome.cern.ch.xml file as the authenticator.

First change the e-mail address of the new account to something you will not use. Log out, log in with the account key you could find, change the e-mail address of that account to the one you are using now.
That should fix the problem.

My BOINC combined stats. page only
reflects credits accumulated for
Einstein@Home, but not credits for
LHC@Home.
Is there a page which
shows totals across all projects?

This is a known problem as somebody of the project tried to fix it. Still the problem exists.

I just joined the project and it says no work available, is this because I'm overcommitted with other projects or is their no work being distrubuted at the current moment in time?

Hello Stefan,

Welcome to the club of the crunchers here. LHC@Home is a project that send out WU's in packets of some several days and afterwards the results of the work our hosts have been doing has to be analyzed by the physicians. During that time, we have to wait for new WU's.

As you can see on the homepage, the server status indicates "out of work". The last WU's have been send out this time some 2 or 3 days ago.

After some several days, which can be also some weeks, new WU's will be available again. Stay tuned.

How are your "General preferences" setting regarding
Do work while computer is in use? as well as
On multiprocessors, use at most

If the first setting is set as "no", your host will only crunch if it is not used, meaning when your go to the task manager you will see that Boinc is idle. You can easily change this by setting that preference to "Yes".
If the second one is set at 1, as you have 2 processors, you need to change this to 2.

After that, don't forget to use the "Update" button in the tab "Projects".

If you look at the Home page, you see following:

Server Status

Up, out of work

LHC@Home is a project that has not always WU's to download. The download capability of WU's is related to the progress of the analyze of the earlier results.

it's not suspended and and that work button say's no new work. i tried the update button and here is what the message's say.

i don't know why it isn't requesting new work.

As you are participating in different projects, very probably the LTD will not allow downloading a WU for LHC@Home.

If you want to see what is the LTD for different projects you can use for example Boinc Debt viewer. You can download it from here.

how do i get boinc to download a new work unit? because i've been done for a few day's and there were none.

A good idea also is to have a look in the tab "Messages". This tab is what I call "the goldmine for information".
