This may not belong here but I don't see anywhere else to put it. I just had all of my work units aborted from all four of my machines. Well over 100 WU's! What gives?

Me too.

Would this explain why BOINC is producing the following when connecting to LHC@Home?

06/11/2015 13:56:28 | LHC@home 1.0 | Scheduler request failed: HTTP internal server error

In all likelihood, I would say the answer is yes.

But seriously, the the Big Bang Machine is a very good program and well worth watching.

For what it is worth, I am running both a windows box (win7) and a Linux box (Ubuntu). I see the same process described by Ray Murray on my windows machine, but I do not see it on the Linux. My Linux box starts at 0% and keep climbing until it's done.

I think if you merge your computers it would solve some of you problems. Go to your 'My account' page, view the 'Computers on this account', and then click 'Merge computers by name' at the bottom on the list.

I hope this helps,
Wes

Ahhh, that explains it. Thanks for the feedback. I'll be aborting that 2nd task ASAP.

I guess in your case you can abort the 2nd instance and someone else should get it. Believe a few others have encountered the situation recently as well.

I am planning to do that if I don't hear anything to the contrary from someone higher up. It just seems to me that there should be something in place to prevent this from happening in the first place. Just another bug that the project needs work out I guess.

I just noticed that I am my own wingman on this pair of tasks: http://lhcathomeclassic.cern.ch/sixtrack/workunit.php?wuid=1856175. This doesn't seem to be scientifically legitimate to me. And I Have noticed that this has happened to others too. Are the administrators aware that this is happening, and are they OK with it?

This is what I get over and over again. I got some tasks earlier this week and they ran correctly, but I can't get any more, even though the server shows several thousand ready to send.

7/9/2012 2:24:33 PM | LHC@home 1.0 | update requested by user
7/9/2012 2:24:37 PM | LHC@home 1.0 | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
7/9/2012 2:24:37 PM | LHC@home 1.0 | Requesting new tasks for CPU
7/9/2012 2:24:40 PM | LHC@home 1.0 | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
7/9/2012 2:24:40 PM | LHC@home 1.0 | No tasks sent

I am getting the same here.

Massimo,

Thanks for the update. I don't expect many people here will be too worried about graphics. Put the effort into the science... and updates here, of course! Thanks again.

John.

I second that.
16) Message boards : Number crunching : Credit awarded calculation (Message 23174)

Post:
I think that the credits given out by this project always have been low. But since until recently the amount of work given out was so meager, it was never really looked at. I was just glad to get anything at all. But now that the project has been aroused from its semi comatose state and is pumping out work fairly regularly, the credit system should be reviewed. Especially now that they are handing out some of the work units that use a considerable amount of resources to crunch. Getting low points for a work unit that took 6 seconds to crunch is not a great concern. But now I am getting WU's that take 8 to 10 hours and only paying out half or less of what most other projects give for the same time.

I don't want to seem ungrateful. I am very glad that this worthwhile project is getting back on its feet again. I'm sure there is a long list of things to fix after the long period of neglect. This is just one more item for the growing "to do" list I guess.

To Eric:
When I try to press \\\\\\\"Show graphics\\\\\\\" button, BOINC interrupts its calculations with the message \\\\\\\"Permanent upload error\\\\\\\". The same thing happens when my computer (Win7) comes into screen saver mode and automatically starts to show BOINC\\\\\\\'s graphics. Why?

It’s a known problem. Read the Computation Error thread in the Number Crunching forum.
