Hey, all my pending downloads are now "ready to run". It took a couple days, but good job folks.

Oh, I said nothing about getting new work. LOL These were "pending downloads" from days ago. Glad I didn't reset or anything like that.

LOL, then you can't find a reasonable excuse to get out of going then. LOL

Perhaps next year it can be in central South Carolina USA and I can be in the same dilemna.

Hallo LHC crunchers,

Ben Segal / LHC@home

I kept trying to post a question, but the post didn't appear. I found out later that the preference setting kept resetting to "least recent post first" so I wouldn't see it, so I'd post again.

sorry

I notice it keeps saying this at the top of the screen:

Unknown column 'thread_sorting' in 'field list'

Hallo LHC crunchers,

LHC@home will restart operation very shortly.

The server hardware has been replaced and its configuration and final testing is being finished now.

Apologies for poor communication with all LHC volunteers over the last month, but CERN is undergoing considerable reorganization at the moment. We will try and do better in the future.

Ben Segal / LHC@home

Shouldn't you be in Geneva, at the 2nd Pan Galactic Boinc Workshop?

Thanks very much for your reply mmciastro. I am actually attached to four projects. Any advice? <edit> Perhaps I have two boinc accounts??

Thank you Ziran for your suggestion. I will try that also.
Peter

The single unique thing that is necessary for project coordination is your email address. I suspect your email address for LHC is different than it is for the others. You can check this by going to "your account" on all projects. I suspect you have two LHC accounts (two different email addys), but have only attached under one of them. If you do have two accounts, there is no way to merge them, so you'll probably have to abandon the "peter gerling" account at LHC, Detach from LHC, then reattach using the "other" email addy (the one that matches the other projects). I know this isn't great news, but there it is.

Peter, Boincstats.com only shows ONE Peter Gerling. He's only been attached to LHC. Has 134 credits and a rac of 13.

His boincstats signature looks like this:

What's the benefit of setting LHC to no new work?

In the new scheduler, if you set a project to NNW and there is no work actually available, it doesn't increase your LTD. If you have it set to NNW and there IS work available it does increase your LTD. I'm not sure if this is a benefit.

@Hasan, I think I need more information about what you're seeing. There are many possiblilities. It's possible that you've suspended the project and forgot about it. Check the "projects" tab, then highlight the project "lhcathome" by clicking on it, it should turn blue. Then look in the status column, does it say suspended by user?, does it say "no new work", does it say nothing, does it say "deferred communictions"? The buttons on the left should say "Update", "Suspend", "no new work", "reset project", and "Detach", is that what your seeing?

The log you posted is the standard start up messages, can you post messages that are farther down the list?

I'm a member of seti/Beta. The 5.00 client was issued to Alpha group ONLY. Not Beta. Beta is testing an application that doubles the sensitivity of the Seti search software, and is supposed to allow for the testing of Astropulse WUs (although, I haven't seen an Astropulse WU yet).

Here's what Rom Walton has said in Email (Boinc_Alpha mail list):

Howdy Gang,

I'm releasing 5.00 for Windows to you all even before I've completed
my test pass. This release includes Account Management improvements and is
enabled out of the box as well as dial-up improvements.

Issues I know about are:
1. The manager doesn't currently pick-up preferences changes after
downloading new preferences from a project server.
2. The manager doesn't ever stop trying to connect when the modem fails to
be able to establish a connection.

Let me know of anything else. :)

----- Rom

Also.

I've removed the major version check in the scheduler and updated the
component on the alpha server.

I'll be sending email to all the project people informing them of the needed
change.

----- Rom

This CC is intended ONLY for the Alpha group

hope this helps

tony
