Is there a run time limit for the Atlas tasks?

I've got 3 of them running for 7days.

What is a HITS file?
It contains the scientific result that will be uploaded to the project server.

Should every task produce a HITS file? Or is it depending on what as been calculated/found?

Now you can run 4 or more cores instead of 2. :-)

Yes i have changed my config to run 2 concurrent 4-core tasks.

You may check if the BOINC client allows enough resources - RAM in this case - to be used to satisfy all tasks.
This should avoid series of suspend/resume.
In addition you may reduce the # of concurrently running tasks until you get results that produce HITS files.
Then slightly increase the # of concurrently running tasks.

What is a HITS file? i will check my future logs to see if they are running properly.
RAM settings were 90%x16GB=14,4GB (i increased this boinc setting to use 100% of RAM)
Is it 16GB RAM enough to run 2 concurrent 4-cores tasks + 1 Seti GPU task?
Or should i upgrade my machine to 32GB?

Mine is still running after 68 hours...

Is there a wall-clock time to worry about?

Can i change the number of CPU-cores used whitin a wu on app_config, on middle of a task without killing it?

@maeax: It was thanks to Yeti's check list that i manage to have Atlas VM's running on my computer.

I saw your tasks run for +/- 40 cpu hours. How many cpu-cores are you using on each task? is it 4?

i'm running 2 cores-tasks.

I am running 2-core tasks.

VM-Console doesn't open anymore. i get an error message when a try to open it. But maybe because it shows 100% complete?

It has been at 100% for more than 12 hours now. Total elapsed time now 34hours. still running.

Yes; we at lhcathomeclassic/SixTrack have colleagues (also volunteers)
developing a GPU version. Results are numerically identical so maybe this year.....
Eric.

Hello Eric,

Can you give us an educated guess of a possible introduction of this GPU app?

Thank you

I can't see this happening, the effort to demonstate mathmatical equilvence would exceed the benifit of using CUDA.

There was a post from Eric talking about a GPU app (Before the cleaning of the news forum. I can't find it know).

Assuming they work correctly (and I have tested all versions
for numerical compatibility) SSE2/SSE3/PNI versions ate typically
at least two times faster than the generic version which will run
on any PC. Eric.

Now that we have the sse2/sse3/pni versions working quite impressively, any news about the development of an CUDA App?

Thanks. Filipe.

when you report your task, it will be an inconclusive validation, and will be sent to a third host.

Probably some kind of error for this 2 second computation.

see this work unit for example.

No GPU computing in this project.
