Requesting 0 seconds of work, returning 0 results
(Message 8359)
Posted 9 Jul 2005 by Chuck Coleman Post: I'm running Sixtrack 4.67 and BOINC 4.45. Whenever I update, I get the message in the title. This is a new behavior, which only started when I upgraded BOINC. It used to be that BOINC calculated how much work I wanted to have queued, then requested enough work to fill my queue. BTW, I'm also running climateprediction, but with a far smaller resource share. |

Add Dialup Preference to Restrict Connection Times to BOINC

This is especially true because I need to have my phone line open _before_ I wake up. |

Sporadic Restarting of Results
(Message 3244)
Posted 5 Oct 2004 by Chuck Coleman Post: This appears to come in batches, then clears up. As far as I can tell, it clears up when I either restart the computer (but not just BOINC) or suspend network activity. Example BOINC messages: LHC@home - 2004-10-05 07:41:28 - Result v64lhc1000pro1s6_8522.32_1_sixvf_84164_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file LHC@home - 2004-10-05 07:41:28 - If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. LHC@home - 2004-10-05 07:41:28 - Restarting result v64lhc1000pro1s6_8522.32_1_sixvf_84164_0 using sixtrack version 4.46 LHC@home - 2004-10-05 07:47:47 - Computation for result v64lhc1000pro1s6_8522.32_1_sixvf_84164 finished |

BOINC GUI Won't Initialize
(Message 3243)
Posted 5 Oct 2004 by Chuck Coleman Post: When I login to my account (no other users on), BOINC immediately produces an error message to the effect that initialization has failed. (I haven't yet noted the exact message.) The next message is "Failed to cleanup the Windows Socket Interface", which is also seen whenever another user logs in. LHC Stops running after finishing a WU
(Message 3241)
Posted 5 Oct 2004 by Chuck Coleman Post: I was running v. 4.05 Beta. Upgrading to 4.09 cleared the problem and introduced others. :-( It would be nice if BOINC had an automatic upgrade or upgrade notification mechanism. |

Add Dialup Preference to Restrict Connection Times to BOINC
(Message 2728)
Posted 29 Sep 2004 by Chuck Coleman Post: The way BOINC is currently implemented, it dials my modem at all times of day. I would like to limit this to the timeframe I specify. For example, I don't use my phone when I sleep, so I would like to set BOINC to connect only when I'm sleeping. |

LHC Stops running after finishing a WU
(Message 2725)
Posted 29 Sep 2004 by Chuck Coleman Post: This started with version 4.46 of sixtrack. When one job finishes, the BOINC console shows the next "running" but always with 0 CPU time. This problem clears with a restart, but I'm not about to restart my computer after every WU finishes. Computer details: Emachines T2082 with Athlon 2000+ XP CPU, 256 MB RAM, running Windows XP SP2. Note: I installed SP2 before BOINC. |
