I am getting 3900 MB on my Linux box, one core, and 4800 MB on the Windows PC , twp cores, where tasks lasted only 20 minutes or less but were validated without a HITS file.

Alright.
Just started a 1-core VM with the new default RAM setting of 3900 MB.
This is less than the 4800 MB I previously suggested for 1-core and 2-core setups but it seems to work fine.
It will take until tomorrow to get that finished.

Windows 10 task has completed in about eight hours but I see no HITS file. Linux task is still running. I have started another Windows 10 task.

The panda report at https://bigpanda.cern.ch/job?pandaid=4008342393 says "finished" on a green background which I assume means it returned a HITS file. BTW, you have to register an account there to see that report.

Finally it finished successfully.
