If you run a separate BOINC client instance for ATLAS (native)...

Do you have a good (i.e., simple) way of setting up two BOINC instances? Is it stable? Can you post it?

This has been mentioned here:

and here:

Simple?
No, you'll have to work around some pitfalls.
Otherwise you would crash your main instance.

Stable?
Yes, once it is set up.

Finally received native_mt! Thank you for your support, when I began questioning my sanity.

As to what finally did the trick, I have no idea. The last thing I changed was resetting the "run test applications" in my account preferences and rebooting. Maybe I'll try reproducing the issue, but atm I'll try running it for a couple of days.

I don't think it is on your end. I haven't received native ATLAS for several days. Then, it will probably go several days with only native ones.

Thanks. One of these days, when I get desperate enough, I will give multiple BOINC instances a try.
I keep hoping that they will include that functionality themselves, but not likely now.

I made a guide on my home forum on how to do it in Window and Linux. Easier then setting up the native client I believe:

There are times when I really need it, as when trying to run CPU and GPU projects with different buffer settings. I will use the Linux version, and have to create “gui_rpc_auth.cfg” and place it in the /etc/boinc-client folder (for Ubuntu) in order to connect with BoincTasks over the LAN. I notice that you refer to a "/var/lib/rpc_gui_auth.cfg" file. Is that the correct name? I don't know if they are really the same file or not.

Thanks.

Nope, you're right. I just swapped it around. Thanks for catching it. I've updated the guide.

The code lines look like crap now after the forum update to vB. :(

I also use it for running GPUs on another client to make it easier to manage. Also helpful keeping the CPU busy when mt or vbox tasks don't use a whole CPU thread.

I haven't gotten any native ATLAS for well over a week. Maybe they are doing only the VBox versions?

Work for ATLAS (native) and (vbox ...) comes from the same pool.
As long as you get any work and you allow beta apps, it depends on your local settings which app your hosts will run.

I guess there is simply no work in the queue whenever your hosts contact the server.

I think the problem was that I had disabled the test applications. Thanks for the reminder. I should be getting something before long.

The slot numbers in Boinc-manager are growing up.
They where all empty (only the folder), but NOT deleted.

Have one Computer with native-App and 32 empty slot-folder.

How do I NOT receive the native app? Run test applications is unchecked yet I received native apps on computers with separate locations. Going to have to unselect Atlas all together.

Wouldn't it be time to add the native app to the app list and spend an additional checkbox for it as it has already been requested by a couple of volunteers?

Thank you Atlas-Team.

I think the request was to have it in the preferences as it's own app

Run only the selected applications SixTrack: yes
sixtracktest: yes
CMS Simulation: yes
LHCb Simulation: yes
Theory Simulation: yes
ATLAS Simulation: yes
ALICE Simulation: yes
Benchmark Application: yes

Add Native ATLAS as an option.

Wow I never realized how great the native app is.

I'm able to run more WU's than I normally would have ram for (using vbox).

Somehow running (9) 8 core units on only 32 GB of ram. Crazy.

Wish I would have done this earlier.

May be due to the version change earlier today although the new version was in the list short after the announcement.
