I really wanted to watch the live feed this morning and tried to set it up for my students in my lab but the feed was overloaded. We were very disappointed and resorted to watching Brian Cox again (I was totally unaware that he was a popstar before being a physicist..that explains why he does so much TV and radio..doh!).

However..reading the home page of LHC@Home here I can definitely get a sense of the excitement this morning. :)
I crunch therefore I am.

Congratulations to everyone involved!

Apologies to everyone that spent this morning laying in their bathtub with aluminum foil hats waiting for the Earth to implode. Maybe the next big scientific endeavor will bring you what you hope for.

Well -teknicly- it\'s not like there were any collisions, so it could still happen <.< >.> <.<

Seriously though, I wish people would stop complaining about the \'danger\' without even reading up on it.

Edit: oh wow, my apostrophes got escape coded o-o;

A good day for the LHC. A day I will remember.
Cheers to all indeed!
And now, a bit more patience.

To all involved congratulations on your great success. We could not think of a better way to commemorate our fallen heros on 9/11 than by getting involved in a project for all mankind.

Congrats.
It was interesting watching the startup on Daily Planet today. Impressed by the fact it basically worked an hour or so after turning it on.

I'm not the LHC Alex. Just a number cruncher like everyone else here.

Good work and thousands of hours spent right here by the people who have been right here almost all day long every day at home with as many computers as they could fire up.

There is this group that do this on their own every day for the last 4 years.

You wont find anyone on the planet that will do that for free but the members here that have been doing so.

YOU know who you are and I still remember my first day here.

And the people I have talked to

And I am here and ready to continue and I check my machines several times a day to see how things are going.

Now lets get back to work!

until then I search for gravity waves and rotating neutron stars.......waiting for more work to help the Large Hadron Collider!

Congratulations on a major accomplishment! This project represents success on so many levels--successful project coordination and management on a massive scale; engineering; manufacturing; political cooperation; assembly; etc, etc.

A positive testament to what we Earthling humans are capable of! :D

Bob P.

This is just the greatest thrill!

I have been enamored of C.E.R.N. since Timothy Ferris brought it to U.S. Public Television in \"Creation of the Universe\".

Just the heartiest congratulations.

And to think: all of this could have been going on here in Texas if our Congress had any brains.
