Understood, it is still moving along I may have more info later today (don't hold your breath though blue doesn't match your eyes ;-P)

Incidentally, my eyes do happen to be blue.

I prefer Arabic tea, it's the best in the world :-D
- With lots of sugar and milk, of course!

Sugar, yes, but milk???? Don't you mean fresh mint?

Arab tea is made with green tea, mint and sugar (hides the bitterness from the mint) and is drunk in tiny glasses, preferably accompanied by pastries involving dates, almonds and honey.

Slimming it ain't. Marvellous stuff.

Whenever I have a date I tend to get drunk, but I don't wear glasses, at least not tiny ones.... Ni!

Here's an idea:

Let's put different types of tea in Stanford University's mostly defunct linear accelerator (SLAC) in order to determine the undeniably mystic and heretofore unknown physics of tea!

...we could also give some of the students a boot to the head while we're at it.

Good source of Brownian motion if you're building a Total Perspective Vortex, of course.

If we were to use green tea, would it still count as BROWNian motion?

(This is a submission for the "Worst tea-joke ever to be posted to this thread" award. Please remember to cast your vote!)

Stanford University's mostly defunct linear accelerator (SLAC)

OK I know a lot of people (specifically on the BaBar project) who would be a little annoyed at that comment but I won't mention it ;-P

Hope you saw that there are still jobs coming, I would have told you in advance but I was emailed over the weekend about it and I am internet-less at home, bloody BT.

BT is one step up the evolutionary scale from two tin cans connected with a length of string. Welcome to the real world!

Glad to see signs of life from you guys - the team at BOINC@AUSTRALIA are ready for the project when it comes back to full life.

(but we're rather busy at the moment with an assault on ABC@Home.....)

[Neasan] OK I know a lot of people (specifically on the BaBar project) who would be a little annoyed at that comment but I won't mention it ;-P

Actually, I was very disappointed when I first heard news about "the future of SLAC." - So, *sigh* The reason I like to rip on Stanford is: I applied to the undergraduate physics program in 1987 and... uh.. was told "Thank you, but no." That was 20 years ago, and yes, I'm still trying to turn sour grapes into wine!

Hope you saw that there are still jobs coming, I would have told you in advance but...

My machine tried it's best to grab some jobs, to no avail. Maybe next time; I feel lucky!!

Regarding SLAC:

'SLAC Today' (http://today.slac.stanford.edu) describes "a transition by 2009 from a DOE Office of High Energy Physics stewarded laboratory to a Basic Energy Sciences (BES) stewarded one."

So, it's only "mostly defunct" in the world of High Energy Physics, which I didn't make clear... Still, in the context of LHC-related chat, SLAC is an easy target for jokes ;)

OK Neasan --

Curiousity forces me to ask: with milk or lemon? With sugar or honey? Oh yes, and what about the crumpets ???

What about some delicious brownies?

Scarily enough my speciality(if you can call adding eggs, oil and water to a mix a speciality) is making these (I have a sweet tooth)

"34348 work units in progress"

...and I didn't get even 1. So much for luck.

I want some brownies.

Arr.
OK, it's time.
I'm bringing my new AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ into the project [Model 75 Stepping 2, 2.4 GHz X2, 2GB RAM @800 MHz] ...aka "Screaming Beauty." She's already 2 months antiquated, but maybe she (and my current "Black Betty") can swipe a few crumbs for me!
