I have just attached to this project, so I haven't
received any work yet.
I have read that the deadlines for work units is
around seven days, so I am a bit worried that my very
slow (P233MMX) computer may not be able to complete
even one work unit in the time allowed!
Can someone suggest how long a work unit might take
to finish on my machine?
The biggest threat to public safety and security is not terrorism, it is Government abuse of authority.

I'd guess that you might complete a full result in around four days, so you should be OK. However, it is the nature of LHC that some results (where the beam becomes unstable) can complet very much quicker.

Try it and see - you may be pleasantly surprised!

On an added note. This project has an intermittant work supply, so just because you don't get work immediately it does not mean you won't ever get work. Look for messages that say something like "will not complete in time" or "insufficent memory" to show that your host will not be able to participate in this project. If it just says "no work from project" then you may be ok but there is no work on the server to hand out to anyone.
