The optomized BOINC will not effect any of the science clients. That one just states the requested credit higher.

That was designed that way to get the optomized SETI client to claim closer to the standard SETI client. The Optomized SETI clients ran so much faster than the standard one that they were claiming about one third the credit of the standard one and starting to cause granted credits to drop as more used the optomized science client.

On the down side it can not be programmed to only increase the requested credits for SETI, it will for all programs. In programs like CPDN it makes no diferance as you get a certain amount of credit for the work no matter how long it takes.

So getting the optomized BOINC to go along with the optomized SETI will work out good, with no effect on LHC other than you claiming a little more credit. But with so few at LHC using the optomized client it very rairley changes the granted credit.

Hay Paul
Looks like you posted that while I started typing, yours sounds good. By the time stamps you can see that I am a slow typest.

Hey guys/gals,
I have to thank you,
That was beyond the pale for any explanation I could have expected...

Paul, that information is far more than I can comprehend in the, arguably, drunken state I am in. Yet, from what I understood of that information (so far), it was extremely useful in helping me understand the implications of such a venture in the LHC project and with the BOINC client itself.

Ray, your post was tremendously helpful, thank you for putting things in "straight forward" terms and for adding to Paul's eloquent and informed explanation; I appreciate it.

I'm grateful to be a member of such a helpful and committed crunching community; I am glad we are all committed to such an important scientific endeavor. Without like-minded individuals: BOINC wouldn't exist.

Thank you both,
ACLUguy
